Meet Hannah

Hannah is a registered psychologist currently completing her endorsement pathway to become registered as a Counselling Psychology. She takes a warm, client-centred approach, creating a supportive space where you can explore your experiences and work towards meaningful change. Hannah draws on a range of evidence-based therapies to tailor treatment to your individual needs, helping you feel understood, empowered, and supported throughout your journey.

Modalities

Hannah draws from various evidence-based modalities allowing for the collaborative creation of a tailored treatment framework that fits one's needs.
Compassion Focused Therapy
CFT helps you develop self-compassion and work through feelings of shame and self-criticism. This approach is especially helpful for those who struggle with being kind to themselves.
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing
EMDR is an evidence-based therapy that helps process distressing memories and trauma. Through guided bilateral stimulation, EMDR can reduce the emotional intensity of distressing and traumatic experiences.
Somatic Based Therapies and Mindfulness
Somatic based therapies support one to build safety in the body and tap into its wisdom to allow movement through unhealed wounds and emotions that have become stuck, and foster self-nurturance. Mindfulness encourages us to be with the present moment with both openness and non-judgement.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
DBT provides practical skills for managing intense emotions, improving relationships, and tolerating distress. This structured approach combines acceptance and change-based strategies to help you develop skills for managing life's challenges.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
ACT helps you develop psychological flexibility by accepting difficult thoughts and feelings while taking action towards your values. This approach focuses on living a mindful and meaningful life rather than eliminating discomfort.
Enhanced Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
Enhanced CBT is specifically designed to treat eating disorders by addressing the thoughts, feelings, and behaviours that maintain disordered eating patterns. This evidence-based treatment helps create lasting change through a personalised and compassionate approach.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a counselling psychologist?
All practicing psychologists must be generally registered by AHPRA and have completed a 4-year undergraduate degree followed by 2 years of additional training. A counselling psychologist has most often completed their 2 years of additional training through a Master of Psychology (Counselling) degree, followed by a counselling psychology endorsement program. This has several requirements including extra supervision, professional development, and clinical hours and takes approximately 2 years to complete. Counsellors have taken a different training pathway and are not registered through AHPRA.
Counselling psychologists can bring different skills into the therapy space just as other psychologists endorsed in their area of practice can (e.g., Clinical, Educational and Developmental, or Sports and Exercise). For Hannah, being trained in counselling psychology has led her to developing skills in client-centred, relational, and compassionate care allowing for clients to truly feel heard and supported.
Do I need a referral?
No, you can attend psychology appointments privately without a referral from your GP. If you have private health insurance, you may be eligible for rebates from your private health fund. You can seek further information from your fund about this alongside how to make claims.
Can I do sessions online?
Hannah offers appointments both in-person and online via the Zoom platform. Please note you do not need to have Zoom downloaded to be able to access online sessions.
Is there parking available?
Yes! There is parking available out the back of Latrobe Wellness Hub where Hannah Rose Psychology runs out of. The driveway is somewhat hidden, so we recommend slowing down as you approach so you don't miss the driveway. There is also a bus stop 20 metres from the front of the practice.
